Legal Letters

Using these letters is as simple as 1-2-3.
Letter 1
Everyone should send in Letter 1, which puts the school on notice that they cannot use different names or pronouns with your child or engage in transitioning them, and asserts your rights as a parent.

Letter 2
Send in one of these letters, which depend on your situation.  If your child is not aware of a child of the opposite sex currently using their bathroom and/or changing areas, send letter 2a, which deals with the potential of this situation occurring.  If this has actually occurred already, use one of the letters from 2b-2e, depending on whether it was your son or daughter, and if both parents or one are sending the letter.

Letter 3
This is a petition for your child to take to school and ask other students to sign who are also uncomfortable with mixed sex bathrooms and changing areas.  Petition signing must not interrupt class, but should be allowable at other times when students socialize, such as lunch.  After students have signed it, the child and parents should make copies and present it to the Principal and the Board of Education at a regular, recorded 6 p.m. meeting.

When completed, please send copies to:

1) Your school principal and
2) The Fredrick County Board of Education: 191 South East Street Frederick, MD 21701

Letter 4
If you don’t have children in the schools and want to express your support for parental rights, please send one of these letters below, based on what applies to you.

Letter 4A: Former Parents Letter
Letter 4B: Concerned Citizen Letter
