Why won’t the BOE members go on record about their support for interscholastic sports team participation by self-selected gender and not biological gender? 

We’ve asked several times, but no one will go on record and explain why they believe allowing biological males to compete against girls is fair and in the best interests of all 45,200 students. We can only assume they refuse to go on the record because this position isn’t defensible, and they know that the vast majority of parents and the community do not agree with it. Even members of the transgender community that aggressively fought to keep 443 intact cannot make a rational case when asked. The only response from the BOE has been recent in a statement indicating various court cases and legal rulings are finding in favor of policy provisions similar to this one. So in response, we’ve made it clear that no matter how these legal rulings impact the final position of the board, in the interest of transparency, we strongly believe that each board member should explain what they think is the right thing to do. Only Nancy Allen has the courage to go on record. She stated she believes sports participation should be determined by biological sex.

As one parent of a biological girl who had just lost the 2023 Nevada/California state skiing championship to a biological male (by 17 seconds), “You ruin women’s sports by allowing males to compete in women’s sports.”

We wonder why the BOE can’t see that.
