No Biological Male Over 11 Should Be Allowed To Join a Women’s Sports Team

How is it possible for a school system to state that the physical and emotional safety of the students is a top priority and then put female students at risk of both physical injury and emotional harm by allowing biological male students to perform on girls’ sports teams?

The Biden administration is rolling out new Title IX rules to expand the meaning of sexual discrimination to prevent schools and colleges from banning transgender athletes from competing on the sports team of their choice.

In what seems like a circumvention of the real issue, the administration, in a press release, said the “proposed rule affirms that students benefit from the chance to join a school sports team to learn about teamwork, leadership, and physical fitness.” We think that misses the point by a wide margin.

The administration’s move is undoubtedly in response to the fact that 10 states have now passed laws banning biological males from competing on a female sports team. A measure to do this in Maryland was recently voted down; however, the arguments from those that voted against it say allowing athletes to compete on the team of their chosen gender is about inclusiveness and fairness. This misses the point by a wide margin as well since this is not remotely fair to any female athlete.

Many states have pushed back against the Biden administration’s proposal, “We’ll see you in Court.” Governor Noem ofSouth Dakota said, and that they would do everything necessary to protect girls’ sports.

One very compelling case for the unfairness of this type of policy is the testimony of swimmer Riley Gaines, which can be found by accessing this video link.

We may not be able to change the direction of the administration’s push or move policy in nearby in Montgomery County, but we can make a difference in Frederick County by contacting the BOE and FCPS administration and letting them know if you believe that students should only be allowed to participate on sports teams that align with their biological gender.
